Harvesting the Logs
At Wiley Log Homes, we believe great homes start with great trees. We use local sustainable horse loggers and local land owners to selectively harvest trees that meet our high specifications.
Hand Peeled Logs
Character. It's what Log Homes are all about. Why ruin what Mother Nature spent so long to create? Once you machine peel a log, you end up with a perfect, cylindrical pole that has no character, but peel it by hand, and you get to see the story that the trees have to tell.
Our Homes Dont Settle!
What makes our Log Homes not settle? Rebar, and lots of it! Whats rebar? Its the steel that allows you to drive your car across a bridge, we use a 1/2" piece of rebar every two feet in every log to pin it to the log beneath it. As the logs shrink, the rebar keeps them from settling, one of our average homes has over 2500ft of rebar in it!
Massive Logs
Our logs are big, and when we say big, we mean 20"+ big. In an industry where a 6" kit "log" is the standard, We stand out. Kit homes will piece together their "logs" to complete a course, we use the entire log, there is not a single joint in any of our walls. Most kit homes have an insulation value around R-9.6 Residential Code is R-19 our logs on average have an R-Value of 27!
Massive Roof Overhangs
What is the number one enemy to Log Homes? Water. Our roof overhangs start at 5ft. Our wall logs dont get wet when it rains, if they dont get wet, they dont rot. Kit log homes overhangs are typically 12-16", they get wet, they rot.
Hand Crafted Details
We Hand craft many of the stunning details of our homes on site. From making log stairs, hand peeling railings, and hand building doors, we make the details that bring out mother natures beauty in your home
Built to Last, with Minimum Impact
In an age of "green" building, we believe our methods to be among the "greenest" there is. A structural engineer estimated the life expectancy of our style of homes to exceed 400 yrs.In a time when homes are built to be torn down, and buried in a landfill 50 years after they are completed, our homes last for decades.
